Why it exists

Process simulation should invite deeper thinking.

RHEON started from a simple frustration: process modelling tools are powerful, but too often feel isolated from the way engineers now work, review, share, and iterate. The ambition is to keep the technical seriousness while removing unnecessary friction.

The product is developed by a chemical engineer who also loves software architecture, interface design, and the craft of turning hard calculations into usable tools. That combination matters: a flowsheet is not just a drawing, and a solver is not useful unless its assumptions and results can be understood.

KIVOSYSTEMS develops RHEON with the belief that good engineering software should clarify complex decisions. The interface should help users see the model, trust the calculation path, and explain the outcome to someone else.

The name

RHEON carries the idea of flow.

The name keeps the Greek-rooted idea of movement, continuity, and process. It is shorter and cleaner than the previous name, while still fitting a tool concerned with flows, phases, recycles, energy paths, and evolving engineering cases.

Origin

A chemical engineer wanted process simulation to feel closer to modern creative software: visual, responsive, versioned, and shareable.

Method

RHEON combines a flowsheet canvas with thermodynamic packages, unit-operation models, validation, solver diagnostics, and persisted results.

Direction
